By popular demand, the ukulele night returns this month.

Bring your uke and some songs to share. This evening of music should appeal to beginners as well as more accomplished players.

We’ll kick off around 7PM with a workshop session suitable for beginners. Learn some new chords, songs, and harmonies.

Around about 8:30, we’ll have some spots for solo performances and finish with jam / singalong. If you have song books, please bring them along.

If you’re interested in doing a solo, drop us a line. Likewise, if you have a song you’d like to teach during the workshop, or any other suggestions for the evening please let us know.

We will be running a blackboard concert, with slots of around 15 minutes for individuals, 20 minutes for groups. This is a great opportunity for performers to try out new material in a supportive environment.

The Fringe Gallery is an intimate space, suitable for purely acoustic performances, although a small PA will be available. Seating may be limited, but please feel free to bring rugs, cushions or folding chairs.

Calvert Music Centre is a brand new performing arts space on the grounds of South Fremantle Senior High School, in Beaconsfield. Parking is available from Pass Cres.

Bring a picnic dinner to share and lots of pillow/blankets, and chat. Performances start at 7pm and finish at 10pm.

This event is to inaugurate a fun series of evenings allowing musicians old and new to try their material. We aim to create regular community events for performers and audiences alike.

Intrigued? Come along to find out more, or to hear the music and other acts, or do a short set yourself. We are hoping to run an average 15 minute slot for individuals (roughly 2-3 songs), 20 minutes for larger ensembles.

Already confirmed are: Brenda Chapman, The Wintersmiths, Pranava, Shalva, Voicemale, and The Spooky Men of the West.

Update

A big thanks to everyone who turned up for contributing towards a great night. It was with some trepidation that we opened the doors, knowing that our advertising had gone out too late. In all we had about 40 people in the audience. The hall had a couple of sofas which helped give a little intimacy to the feel. We almost managed to cover our costs from the donations, so we are encouraged to give it another try soon.
